Textile nonwovens, transparent films and papers are used as alternatives to talcum powder. Kraft paper with virgin paper fibers and a small proportion of sorted waste paper has proved particularly effective. What is talc?
Talc is a ground magnesium silicate mineral that can bind water. It is very light and almost invisible in the air. In the production of PVC cables and halogen-free core insulation and sheathing, the mineral talc in powder form is mainly used as a separating and lubricating agent between the cores and sheathing to prevent the core insulation from sticking to the sheathing.
