3. Test centre

In industrial automation and robotics cables and leads are constantly exposed to extreme demands. At the test centre these cables and leads are put through tough endurance tests

The cables and leads are tested with current in energy chains of up to 30 m length and with processing speeds of up to 300 m per minute. The cables and leads, produced specifically for you, reach up to 10 million cycles. The data, among other things the electrical resistances of the cables and leads, is recorded and documented via the LabVIEW ® system. This allows an objective evaluation of the cables and leads being tested.

Cables, leads and cable bundles in varying diameters are tested with specially developed torsion simulators. Rotation angle and length, on which the torsion is applied, bending radius, speed and acceleration can be variably determined. The number of movements is electronically monitored and documented.

Cables and leads used in robots must withstand extreme acceleration and deceleration forces. They are under extreme tensile, compression and torsion strains. In close collaboration with the robot manufacturers our technicians have developed mechanical simulators that reproduce all axes of an anthromorphic robot. The service life and the millions of cycles required by our products are tested in a practice oriented manner and guaranteed.

You can count on our cables and leads maintaining their properties, unchanged, even after long and hard periods of usage. In physical and chemical tests the materials are thermo-gravimetrically and thermo-analytically tested. Tear resistance and tensile strength, specifications such as age consistency, abrasion resistance, chemicals, oils and temperatures consistency, resistance against hot particles etc. are measured and documented.

Even a mechanically and dynamically flawless cable would not be perfect without comprehensive electrical testing.

Cables and leads, particularly those applied in data transmission, industrial automation, and fieldbus systems, in networks or in the railway sector undergo complicated electrical testing. The measurement values such as resistance, capacity, impedance, return loss, damping etc. are documented. Tests for dielectric strength, current stability and operating voltage are conducted in high voltage cubicles with a capacity of 20 kV and 30 kV.

We burn your cables.

The fire behaviour of halogen-free safety cables, UL and CSA certified cables and leads as well as basically all cable types are tested in our own fire cubicles. The results confirm the requirements IEC 60332 and IEC 60331, of the UL - Directive Cable Flame, VW1, Horizontal Flame Test, Vertical Tray Flame Test, and UL 1685 as well as CSA FT1 and FT2. In general we also acquire valuable information from the flame tests in terms of cable construction and materials used.

Do you have any other questions about the test facilities and possibilities? Our specialists are at your service.
